It could be on the right if it was literally to the right (floating to the VERY FAR right), away from the other options. But that is pretty much the same problem.

As I understand it, from looking at the HTML structure, there is the "Reply" text which is just static text, it is always in the same place as it is the first option in the quick links. With the other options showing dynamically based on user permissions, logged in etc, if it wasn't first it would have a different position every time. Now, the way the toggle of the reply box works is that there is a hidden checkbox which is positioned absolutely over the top of the static reply text, so it needs a certain positioning in pixels (just like co-ordinates), if the position of the reply text was to change, then the position of the checkbox would need to change. This is why it needs to be on the left as it will always be in the same place. If we could use JavaScript there would be no need for the checkbox, so you could literally just click the reply text in any position to toggle the reply box.

If syntax says it isn't possible, it probably isn't or it would require a lot of unnecessary changes just to make it possible. You need to remember this isn't Reddit though, things will be different and it is things that people will need to get used to, especially things that were avoided due to JS constraints.

- /u/HugBunter A 9th July, 2018 - 02:37 If it was on the right then there would be no way to position the checkbox that toggles it, because the other items in the actions aren't always there, so the position of the "Reply" text can be in different positions depending on the situtation. In its current form, it cannot be done unless it was changed to a pop out modal window again, which was bad design.

If syntax says it cannot be done, then it can't, believe me

- /u/HugBunter A 9th July, 2018 - 01:09 I can easily re-arrange them after reply, I spoke to syntax (my designer) about the reason for this and the reply box pop out is only really possible if reply is on the left unfortunately.

What would be the best order you could suggest with reply being on the left still?
