How do I go about selling XMR for cash on localmonero?
- /u/cthulhuskittens 9th February, 2024 - 15:27 i thought he was doing it through localmonero which has a xmr-for-cash-meetup option. you still go through the site, they give you a confirmation code, you show the buyer the confirmation code & they hand over the cash. if they don't release the xmr, you dispute the trade, with evidence of the jacking, & you get your coin anyway (& a fun story to tell around the dinner table!). if you're talking about the buyer jacking the seller, what exactly would the buyer get out of that? the seller wouldn't be bringing cash or anything of value to the meet (unless they're an idiot). his phone maybe? not worth it with all the higher-value targets for aforementioned jacker. obviously you want to minimize risk, hence the coffee shop, but what if the only coffee shop for miles is closed because covid momentarily emptied everyone of their common sense? are you gonna forego that sweet deal just because you have to meet in a sketchy park in coney island? i think not

How do I go about selling XMR for cash on localmonero?
- /u/cthulhuskittens 9th February, 2024 - 04:26 i've met in some sketch-ass places without problems - you have to fund your trade as the seller before initiating it, so if you jack the buyer, they still get the money (assuming there's proof of jacking to show admins, of course)
it seems like a pretty safe system - can't do it anymore now that i don't live in a big city but i did some good trades that way

Can I trust those localmonero sellers?
- /u/cthulhuskittens 17th March, 2024 - 17:07 while feedback padding is possible in theory, sellers have to "fund" their trade before it can be initiated, so their ability to just walk with your funds is greatly diminished (if they do try to ghost you without finalizing, you can freeze the transaction & summon a mod - i've found the staff on LM to be fair & responsive the two times someone tried to rip me off). limiting your trades to sellers with feedback score of 99-100% pretty much guarantees you are dealing with honest peeps as no one is going to tank their feedback score just to screw you out of a few hundred bucks

avoid prymtetyme
- /u/cthulhuskittens 22nd March, 2024 - 18:52 curious what happened between you & AA, they were more than courteous to me even though i was unable to rate their sample very highly. i've seen vendors fly off the handle taking less-than-stellar reviews of their product as personal attacks but they're not one of them
