This post serves as an extension and continuation of /u/HeadJanitor's pinned post Master Collection | {Best OpSec Posts} -- /post/caca0fb44c86e28bd83b. It brings together a curated selection of the best operational security posts contributed by some of our appreciated members on Dread and, in particular, the OpSec SubDread community. If you have not already, I highly recommend taking the time to read the posts featured in that compilation before immersing yourself in this post. They are not only worth your time, but you may even learn something new. While I'm on this topic, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude and give a quick shout-out to /u/HeadJanitor for all the top-notch work and effort he has been putting into the community and for coming up with this brilliant idea. The execution has been nothing short of excellent, providing an exceptional opportunity for everyone to broaden their knowledge base, heighten their awareness, and gain new perspectives in the critical realm of operational security. To avoid duplication, this extended version does not include the entries that are in the original post.

In Chinese culture, there is a profound saying, ๆ”นๅ–„ (gaishan / gฤƒishร n), which emphasizes the continuous pursuit of improvement. This saying holds particular significance and is especially relevant when discussing operational security and its broad scope. It serves as a constant reminder that the learning process is an ongoing journey for each and every one of us, and we should always maintain a humble student mindset, continuously striving to improve our understanding and refine our practices.

In and of itself, operational security is not a one-dimensional concept that can be grasped overnight; rather, it is a dynamic and evolving field that requires our ongoing attention and adaptation to the ever-changing landscape of threats, vulnerabilities, and adversarial tactics. It is this commitment that distinguishes those who survive in this game from those who, like oblivious fish, fall into traps due to their misguided belief of knowing it all (an "I am better than you" mindset) or their unwillingness to put in the effort to read, conduct diligent research, and do their homework.

You don't want to be that fish that gets hooked, do you? One thing is certain: to avoid falling into traps, you must rid yourself of complacency and ignorance. Embracing humility and being open to learning from others who are more experienced, as well as from our fellow members here, is crucial. This principle is consistently preached around here. Let's not forget that we are all here as a collective, ready to help one another on our respective journeys. Even though, in most cases, we may not gain anything financially from our contributions except the satisfaction of helping others, you could say that is a reward in itself. It is vital, on your part, to remain committed to learning and implementing what we have learned because knowledge without application serves no benefit to you.

Remember, nobody is going to do the reading for you.

To provide clarity before we proceed, let me briefly explain how the posts in this extended version of the Master Collection | {Best OpSec Posts} were sorted. I have maintained the original structure by sorting the posts in descending order based on the number of up-votes, from highest to lowest. However, there is an exception for posts written by the same author that delve into the same topic but are divided into multiple posts (parts) due to the character limit on dread. In such cases, I have carefully grouped them together, regardless of their individual up-vote count. This was done to ensure a smooth flow of information and to avoid confusion. So, if you notice any such grouping, that is the reason behind it.

I would also like to bring your attention to something that needs to be pointed out quickly: every single post presented in this compilation holds immense value as they touch on important topics related to operational security. Brace yourselves, as there are quite a lot of posts, approximately ~170 in total. The majority of the posts cover completely different topics, whereas certain posts, particularly those of great importance and criticality, may appear more frequently and cover similar/same topics or talking points, and may even extend from one another. It is important to note, however, that they are mostly written by different authors, each offering their own unique perspectives or expanded versions. When you encounter a recurring topic, it is for a reason; after all, repetition is the mother of learning. So pay close attention to them and don't let them fly over your head.

To each and every reader: Avoid dismissing and disregarding a post solely based on the number of up-votes it has received and sticking only with the highest-rated ones. Everyone has put in effort and time to write, and they all deserve equal attention for your own benefit. Taking such an approach would not only be a disservice to yourself but also imprudent. Instead, I encourage you to invest the time to thoroughly read through each post, from top to bottom, and carefully digest the information presented before you.

Table Columns Explained:

Post Title: It is self-explanatory; it is the title of the post given by its author.

Post Path: This is the path to the post. I chose not to use BBcode to format it because not everyone may be accessing Dread from the main link. For convenience, I have added the path. Clicking on it will direct you to the selected post.

Post Up-votes: Amount of up-votes the post has received thus far. I will try to keep this updated as much as possible.

Post Comments: Amount of comments submitted under the particular post. Keep in mind that there is also a lot of information from discussions occurring under the main posts, so you can give them a quick read while you're there. I will try to keep this updated as much as possible.

Author: This is the post's author.

Awarded: As a way of expressing my gratitude for the exceptional posts and efforts that have gone into crafting these contributions, I have decided to award each one with a Bronze Medal. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to making our community a better and safer place. Your contributions have been very helpful to both newcomers and long-standing members, and I am confident that everyone feels the same way. Even those whose posts are included in this compilation but who are no longer active on Dread continue to assist others in improving their operational security posture, developing good security habits, and making positive strides. You guys are doing a great job, and without people like you who consistently give back and have a positive influence, the community would not be where it is today. Hands-down.
