You do this, you'll get burned. Apple has a special contract with Amazon that all of their returned items are closely inspected. Nobody is going to believe you ordered an iPhone 13 and received a used iPhone SE. That's not actual shipping errors occur. It would be more realistic to say you received a package of dog food or a pair of running shoes in place of your iPhone 13, because that's what actually happens in real life, and is in fact becoming more common, as Amazon's retail business is entering a decline. Many of the return scams you saw people getting arrested for back in 2015, after making millions, actually wouldn't result in arrests nowadays, simply because the refunds wouldn't be approved to begin with. Also, check out my profile for a thread I posted about Amazon now requiring photo ID for returns.

This may not work depending on your country. They actually take x-ray pics of (at least some) packages before they head out in Canada (other countries too but I don't know off the top of my head). They'll probably investigate and deny your claim.

I think that's for returns, not outgoings packages. They have one return center in Nevada that has X-ray machines, anything expensive like a MacBook would be put through that. That's what I've heard from a former employee.

I had a friend who bought an Apple watch one time and tried to claim EB. They rep told him after a few days that they checked and saw that it was in the package before it left the warehouse. This was about 2 years ago so I kinda forget the details but I remember the rep said something about how they had an x-ray scan of the it before it left. Those things are like $500-$700 so it could just be for expensive items like you said
