Where did my messages go? Can they be recovered? Answer: Dread automatically deletes messages occasionally to prevent information leakage and reduce the size of the database (keeping the site fast). The last to three month messages should still remain. Once the messages are deleted they are gone forever we can not recover them for you. Do not trust a site to retain information you may need indefinitely. Keep a record of important information locally as we provide zero guarantees of availability. This is the darknet. The site may disappear at any time and you can't do anything about it. from /d/Dread/wiki?id=0f0519ab

DM's can be deleted from both ends, if the other party Delete's them it will also delete them on your end.

To add, Dread cleanses inactive PM chats after 30 days.
