Did i leak my IP?? Pure VPN

by /u/bobthelog · 0 votes · 2024-03-29 04:07:00

Gooooooood Evening

I have been using Pure VPN for some time now and it has never dropped on me, until now.

I have IKS Kill switch activated and it did do its job but the thing is, i was looking at the screen at the time and the VPN
got disconnected and i seen the notification,

Than i could see my WIFI was still connected for 2 to 3 seconds and then Pure VPN killed it.

Was the notifications just slow?
In the background was it doing a it should have done?
And is there a way i can check?

I had a DM open at the time, nothing loading, just open.
Linux mint dedicated desktop device

Connected to a shared WIFI within an apartment block

Thank you guys thank you

Yes using TOR. VPN for an extra layer. It's not my ISP it's a share network with other offices mate

worse case scenario the isp/office network manager know you used tor, which is not illegal to use. i mean, i wouldnt be worry about it, they cant prove it was you either - could be anyone from the office.

If you are really concerned about leaks and know about firewalls, configure your computer firewall to only allow outbound traffic to the vpn endpoint. Often in wireguard configs these are numeric ip addresses and ports. You could set up encrypted dns (DoT, DoH or dnscrypt) and only allow those outbound ports to manually chosen privacy focused dns providers. Block the rest. Pretty severe I know but with some tuning you can make a fairly leakproof computer.
